Best HDTV Antenna – What You Need To Know
The HDTV Antenna
The US Senate bill implemented legislation that allowed for the transition of TV broadcast transmissions from analog to digital.
That means that after February 17, 2009, the conventional, traditional and widely used analog TV sets in the United StatesĀ became obsolete and almost completely useless.
Analog TV sets are no longer able to receive a signal or transmissions from local TV stations anymore. Thus, the lower-income TV viewers are deprived of TV entertainment. .
However, the US Senate approved a resolution that the federal government subsidized the average-income consumers use of converter boxes to enable them to watch the ‘improved’, better and new digital broadcasts from their favorite TV network still using their analog TVs.
The initiative was timely and called for because HDTV tuners will come with new HDTVs, and they would not be compatible with analog TVs.
The legislation allowed analog TV users to still use their analog TVs but at the same time empower them and give them access to digital TV broadcasts.
Now, that subsidy has run out and people are on there own. You not only need a converter box, to convert the new HD signal into a analog signal that will play on your TV, you will also need a new antenna, one that is HD ready, and will receive the HDTV signal.
HDTVs
High definition television or HDTV is the fast rising and more popular TV technology. .
On the average, marketers estimate that the price of an HDTV is about 10 times more than conventional TV sets. So, HDTV antennas and converter box’s should sell for some time to come.
HDTV Quality
The most breath-taking feature of the HDTV is its superior picture quality. The picture on a HDTV is far more better than the picture quality of the conventonal analog TV.
Whats more, the excellent sound quality that comes along in the package with HDTV, it is totally awesome! Nothing can compare to it. It’s crisp and clear.
HDTV Antenna
A downside for HDTV is its signal or HDTV antenna capacity. Because HDTV uses a complex and sophisticated digital broadcasting technology, HDTV must have its own compatible and specially designed HDTV antenna that is not compatible to receive or accept signals from analog TV broadcast transmitters.
Because digital TV transmissions will never be received by a analog TV antenna, the analog TVs will eventually be obsolete. Current Tv antennas, that are mounted to homes all over the country are now worth nothing more than their weight at the aluminum scrap yard.
In a nut shell, to watch your old TV’s, and in order to watch what is currently ‘Free TV’, you will need a HDTV antenns to receive the broadcast, and a HDTV converter box to convert the HD signal to an analog signal that your TV will actually play.
